BABY FOOD HOW-TO! BUTTERNUT SQUASH + BROCCOLI PUREE

Making your own baby food can feel intimidating and stressful when really it SHOULD be easy. This Butternut Squash and Broccoli Puree is PACKED with nutrients and so seasonally appropriate.

Recipe + Do's and Don'ts to follow:

BUTTERNUT SQUASH + BROCOLLI PUREE

1 Butternut Squash

2 Small Heads of Broccoli or 1 big one

1/4 Cup Liquid of your choice. Water, Breastmilk or Formula.

1) To Roast Butternut Squash: Halve squash, scoop out the seeds and pulp with a spoon. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place Butternut face down on the baking sheet and roast for about 40 minutes at 400 Degrees F.

2) To Steam Broccoli: Fill a large pot of water with at least 4 cups of water. Cut broccoli florets off the stem. Bring water to a boil. Place broccoli in a steamer basket and let steam for about 10 minutes.

3) Blend! Place Butternut Squash and Broccoli into the baby food blender. Add liquid. Blend, adding more liquid as needed.

4) Jar or add to Silicone Freezer Tray. Serve and Enjoy!

Some DO’S and DON'TS + links: DON’T over steam broccoli or other veggies. This broccoli is still super crunchy NOT mushy when going into the blender. Otherwise you’ll lose all the yummy nutrients.DO Invest in a baby food blender. The Baby Bullet is honestly magical. It can puree like no other.DON'T stress if you don’t have time to make fancy purees all the time. Make a big batch when you can. Get some silicone trays to store in the freezer. Marni does a combo of eating purees and baby led weaning. 👍DO add liquid of your choice to your puree. I used water here but you can use formula or breast milk. Adding familiar tastes can only help! 👶🏻

Happy Feeding!
